
In order to apply, foreign students must first graduate from at least a two year program AND work for one year at a qualified position. Foreign workers must have a minimum of two years qualified Canadian work experience before applying. Foreign graduates of a Canadian post-secondary educational institution with Canadian work experience would need to meet the following minimum requirements:
* Note: an academic year means eight months of study.
The applicant would have to graduate from a program of study lasting at least two years OR in the case of a one year masters or certificate program, previous education prior to admission into the one year program must have been completed in Canada for a total of two years of Canadian post-secondary education.

For foreign graduates to meet the requirement for work experience, they have to apply for the Post-Graduation Work Permit after graduation within 90 days after graduation.

As of June 26, 2010, all applicants in the Canadian Experience Class must submit the original English or French language test results from a designated language testing agency in order to be considered for processing. Written submissions establishing proficiency in English or French are no longer considered.
